‘Nimki’ is a popular North Indian snack and a perfect accompaniment to your evening tea. Basically, nimkis are deep fried farsaan or snacks and served with mint coriander chutney, sweet tamarind chutney and also taste delightful with Rajasthani hari mirch ka achaar and the classic raw mango pickle.
If this snack is new to you and you’re still wondering what is it about, then let me tell you ….’Nimki’ tastes more or less like ‘Mathri’ and the recipe is also almost similar except the fact that matris are rolled round like small discs, whereas nimkis are rolled and folded into triangles and then deep fried. This way it gets four layers and after getting fried becomes crisp and flakey and makes a perfect tea time snack.
For all those holidays and festive season, nimki is a good option to munch on. Do not miss to make nimkis in large batches and store in air tight containers for a long shelf life. While travelling, you can carry them with yourself and savor with your favorite pickle whenever you want.
